Last night it started to rain, and a cold rain at that. My bride & groom had traveled from Pittsburg, CA to Capitola, CA for their destination elopement-style "Wiki-wiki" wedding on the beach & I was feeling bad about the 50% chance of rain for their day.
I said a prayer, put out positive thoughts, but as I was once a Girl Scout - I was prepared for the rain with an umbrella- just in case. But Lo & behold - the rain stopped on their special day & it even got sunny on this late October Monday afternoon.
My bride had told me that they had dreamed of getting married in Sicily, Italy - but it was too expensive to go there. So instead, they booked a room at the charming Venetian Inn, Capitola, CA. I had researched about weddings in Italy & informed the couple that over there, part of the ceremony includes reading the Marriage Law excerpts, as if to advise you of your rights - to me, that didn't sound very fun. The bride agreed. For their ceremony, I threw in a greeting in Italian, Buona giornata, benevenuto, as well as saying Congratulazioni (congratulations) at the end after pronouncing them married to give their ceremony a little dolce vita flavor!
As you can see - the bridal couple's style was beachy casual as she wore a white sarong instead of a dress & the groom wore shorts. We ended up having a lovely afternoon. I felt we were truly blessed with such a day.
Congratulations to R. & B. Bravo!
