The sun was out on a lovely, mild January day, so we were able to have the ceremony on the deck. The home was in the hills above the Elkhorn Slough area in Monterey County.
The young couple had known each other since 8th grade and wanted to make the commitment of marriage while the groom was home. The groom looked splendid in his Army dress uniform and the bride wore a lovely ivory with gold strapless dress.
As a last minute, on the spot change, I switched their answered response during the Affirmation portion of the ceremony so that they responded in Spanish - as the couple was bilingual. I also opened and closed the ceremony with a welcome and congratulations in Spanish.
They were wed in front of their immediate family, and afterwards everyone enjoyed a bowl of homemade pozole (hominy & pork soup) - including yours truly. It was delicious! Mejores deseos to the couple!
